How are you?! I hope this note finds you doing outstanding and just about ready to step away from the laptop (like me!) and enjoy Thanksgiving week!

Interestingly enough, Thanksgiving is why I started my business.

I don’t think I’ve ever shared that before.

The thing is, when I was growing up, the only time (I recall) that my family hosted guests was for Thanksgiving. And I loved it. The energy of getting ready, people gathering, and feeling that sense of community and connection that comes from togetherness is pure magic. That’s where my love affair with events started… over the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, at a table with all the leaves added, eating soft rolls with maple butter, and pumpkin pie.

Now, I always love to share my favorite adventure… and this month, it must be the simple and close-to-home adventure of biking to school with my daughter each morning through piles of crunchy leaves....

Happy Fall!

I hope this note finds you doing outstanding and enjoying the leaves turning and apple cider and perhaps even a cozy sweater!

The past month has been an adventurous one for me. I produced a client’s event in Athens and Delphi and followed that with a site visit to Istanbul for their 2023 event. And then I got COVID for the first time. Oy.

On the return flight I started to feel like something wasn’t right and immediately tested positive upon getting home and didn’t make it out of bed for five days. I’m happy to report I feel a million times better now, even though I’m not yet at 100%.

I’d say a highlight was hiking the Delphi Archaeological Site, walking the roof of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, touring the two Four Seasons in Istanbul, and boating on the Bosporus River. The common thread being they were all so peaceful.

I’m curious, what did you learn last month?

Here’s a few things I...

I hope this note finds you loving life and feeling a sense of joy and gratitude for all the experiences you and your loved ones enjoyed over the summer.

I always love to share a favorite adventure with you in the hopes it inspires you to create some with your family and friends. It’s just that I would be hard pressed to select just one that was my favorite since I last wrote.

Here are a few highlights… Spending a month in Northern Door County, WI was nothing short of magical. Celebrating my 42nd birthday over Door County cherry pie was delicious. The YMCA of the Rockies was a fun family experience and perhaps the best accidental find ever. Rocky Mountain National Park was stunning. The Glenwood, CO Hot Springs were so fun to float in. Celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary over family dinner at home was relaxing (got to sit outside and enjoy corn on the cob!) The Bandon Dunes Golf Resort was breathtaking. Oregon is...

Happy June to you!

My favorite adventure this past month was taking a day off to go for a hike in Sedona, AZ. Twenty years ago or so, Oprah told me Sedona was fabulous and I’ve had it in my head ever since that I need to go. I was glad to finally make it happen.

Sedona is an interesting place; not 30 minutes in, the town had me wondering if I needed my energy balanced, what a picture of my aura looks like, and if a psychic reading would, in fact, be a good idea. But in the end, I decided to stick to my initial plan and hit up The Juicery, Crystal Magic, Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, and hike Cathedral Rock.  (All excellent stops, BTW.)

What did you learn last month? Here’s what has my attention:

  1. I read The Courage to Be Disliked: The Japanese Phenomenon That Shows You How to Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga at Glo Atanmo’s recommendation. I loved it and...

My favorite adventure this past month was a trip to the Oregon Coast. We love it there and typically go monthly. “The Coast never disappoints” is what we always say on the return. Some people may say “it’s cold there; you can’t swim in the water” but growing up in the Midwest,

a: I’m used to things being COLD, and
b: access to the ocean is such a novelty that it’s still a pinch-me moment every time we get to go (and it’s just 75 minutes away!)

What did you learn last month? Here’s what I’ve been learning about:

  1. PRIORITY & TASK MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE: The launch strategist I hired recommended I try ClickUp for prioritization and task management and so I’m knee-deep in ClickUp University, excitedly learning the world of project management software. I’m seeing the value of moving away from my corporate ways of managing everything with...

Spring sure feels good this year, doesn’t it?!My favorite adventure this past month was taking a solo road trip to the Skagit River Valley in Washington to fulfill my dream of walking in a daffodil field. Check! I look forward to growing my own flower farm one day!I then wandered up the Salish Sea coast checking out the scenery. Before I knew it, I was almost in Canada and while I wanted to go, and happened to have my passport on me, it was time to head home. It’s crazy fun to explore all the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest! So, what did I learn last month? Great question, I’d love to tell you. (Yes, I stole that line from my new favorite comedian, Elyse Myers.)

  1. PODCASTING: Just when I thought I’d learned all there is to know on the topic from John Lee Dumas’ course, I hired a podcasting coach (rockstar Marion Abrams, who grew the Spartan Up! podcast to over 40M downloads)...

Hey there!

I hope you enjoyed an outstanding February and got out and made the most of it.

Oregon truly is magical. We certainly got out and saw a lot of it this month.  My favorite adventure goes to a full-sun perfect-powder day downhill skiing on Mount Hood and enjoying a picnic lunch outside… but cross-country skiing on Hood the following weekend was a very close second; it’s such a peaceful sport!

All that said, I’m curious…

What did you learn last month?

Here are a few of my February learnings:

  •  Changing the game: Last week I wrapped up production on a 3-day virtual event for a client and their feedback afterwards was “you changed the game for us.” It was a high-profile client, and I think because of that, the comment took me by surprise.  It reminded me how easy it is to live and breathe a thing (like events, for me) and then take what I consider table stakes or common-sense...

Hey there

Happy February to you!

I hope your January was filled with progress and fun. I feel like I blinked and it was over!

My favorite adventure was a 4.5-mile hike on Cape Falcon in Oswald West State Park. There’s such a feeling of accomplishment after doing hard things. The views down the Oregon Coast were sublime. I am in awe that we get to live here and share these experiences as a family.

The most memorable adventure though, goes to the time we went sledding on Mt. Hood and it took 6.5 hours to get home vs. 1.5… traffic on a sunny Sunday; omg.  Glad we had a good audiobook to listen to!

All that said, I’m curious…

What did you learn last month?

Here are a few of my January learnings:

  •  Expansive, Abundant Thinking: On all our weekend adventure road trips, we’ve been listening to Harry Potter via Audible, and this quote from book 5 caught my ear in January: “The thing about growing up with...

 2022!!! Let’s go!!!

I love sharing about adventures. Our family (and my business) had an epic December.  The biggest smiles and widest eyes came from a (very long, oy!) hike along the Trail of Ten Falls in Silver Falls State Park here in Oregon. It’s a must-do adventure during the rainy season, that’s for sure.

But there were certainly a lot of runner ups for favorite adventures… attempting to cut our own Christmas tree in a National Forest, sledding in many feet of fresh powder on Mount Hood, being called up by Santa to help elf, baking Christmas cookies, drive-thru Christmas lights, family walks, playing fetch with Max on Cannon Beach, and celebrating the New Year eating chocolate fondue while watching fireworks in Dubai, Sydney, London, Montreal, and NYC courtesy of YouTube.

All that said, I’m curious…

What did you learn last month?

Here are a few of my December learnings:

Hey there

It’s such an exciting and hopeful time of 2021. Do you feel it too?!

When I looked back at our photos from the past month to select my favorite adventure to share with you, I was struck by the fact that so many of my favorites in November were the result of minuscule decisions. … tiny, hey why don’t we just stop here and check it out or let’s use what’s left of the afternoon to try something new, or let’s drive a little further and see what’s there, kind of adventures.

One Saturday we went on a hunt to recreate a picture I found on Instagram. Silly, perhaps, but one of the adventure inspiration accounts I follow posted this photo of a hiker at Trillium Lake up on Mount Hood, and never having been there myself, I instantly knew I had to have that picture too (but more so the adventure that went with getting it.)  It felt fun to succeed and then it led to us having the best time down...
