A monthly letter from the desk of Sarah Fejfar

I’m a bit emotional as I write this note today.  I have the gift of a three-hour, uninterrupted block of time to work today while my 9yo daughter, my kiddo, is at school (3rd grade) for the first time in over a year.

She’s nervous and excited and was wondering “what to wear on the first day of school…” which struck me as so very interesting… what a question to be pondering in May!  She gets to go for 3 hours, outside, 2x a week for these last 4 weeks of the school year.  Progress.

So… what did you learn about yourself or your business last month?

Here’s what I learned:

  1. My New Zero Tolerance Policy: In April, at my life coach’s recommendation, I read the book Dollars Flow to Me Easily by Richard Dotts, to help me work through some subconscious limiting beliefs I have about wealth.  My biggest takeaway was making the decision that I now have a zero-tolerance policy for thoughts that don’t serve me. And wow, it’s triggered a new awareness of the loops and ruminations that roll around in my head all day.  It seems there’s going to be a lot of layers to peel back, some more obvious than others, and it appears this will be a challenge, and one I’m going to be glad I tackled.

  2. “Was it worth it?” My daughter co-sleeps with us and a couple of weekends ago I laid in bed (instead of getting up like I normally do) and waited for her to wake up.  When she woke up, I said to her: “good morning, Sunshine, I’ve been waiting for you to wake up so I could see your smiling face” and with the sweetest, calmest smile, the first words out of her mouth were: “was it worth it?”  Wow.  I teared up at the power of that question.  I’ve been wrestling with a lot of shame around the speed at which I’m building my own business amongst the obligations of family and client work, especially during the pandemic.  But, of course, the answer to her question is YES! I’d shout it from the rooftops.  I’ve made the decision to prioritize my health, my family, and my clients above my own business growth (and those priorities align with my values) so it’s only natural that growth will be slow.  The learning here is that I have some work to do to align my head and heart.

  3. Instagram: I want to give a shoutout to Chalene and Brock Johnson – they’re just crushing it inside their new membership, InstaClub Hub, which I think has over 8,000 members now (yay them!!!) I’ve been inside learning for about 6 months and my mind is blown at how helpful their guidance is.

And now we’ve arrived in May.  Portland is flowering and turning green everywhere… it’s beautiful and I love being surprised by what blooms.  Even though it’s our third Spring living here, I haven’t yet memorized what blooms and what doesn’t and so it feels like presents popping up everywhere.

What are you trying to accomplish in May?

Here are my three goals:

  1. Website Refresh: Last month I finished updating my website with my offerings (strategy sessions, 1:1 coaching, event consulting, private workshops, business consulting) so I now have things for people to buy; it feels good to have it out of my head and onto the page (thank you, Kajabi, for making it easy!)  Now I just need to add some finishing touches to round out the site and make it look lived in. (Maggie Kirkland took some pictures for me and I used them all throughout the site and they look just fabulous.  I’m so grateful for her artistry.)

  2. Sales Page: I made good progress on my long-form Live Event Academy™ sales page last month but didn’t finish so this month it’s my goal to finish.

  3. Fun: I’m challenging myself to do something every day in May that I find fun/exciting.  I’ve written down the word “cheerful” in my journal every day for a year as a daily “how I want to feel” goal, without any progress… so now it’s time to do something about it. 😊

And there you have it, my May update for you.  Just thought I’d share and keep in contact.

I hope this note finds you, and your loved ones happy and healthy.

Make it an awesome week,

Sarah
