I highly recommend that you pick this book up and take the super short quiz so that you can uncover your purpose in life, and maybe you already know and it will just be reaffirming. Or maybe you want the super simple quiz to ask your sister or your husband or your kid and find out what makes them tick at a pretty deep level, in a pretty easy, non confrontational kind of way. How are entrepreneurs like us daring bravely to build a stage, ditch the sweatpants and step up to the mic? How do we create our own transformative events so we can get our message out into the world in a bigger way. It's not only profitable, but it's actually something we can be proud of.
That's the question, and the answers are inside this podcast. My name is Sarah fafer. Welcome to Greenroom Central.
Okay, for the next few months, this podcast can be a little different. I spoiler alert, and moving this summer, which is going to be so fun, and we're taking our sixth annual favor family road trip, summer road trip. And so because of all that, I knew my life was going to be crazy, and so I decided not to do interviews for you this summer, but what I wanted was for you to still get a fresh hot now episode every single week. So I decided to look at my audible and my or my apple Notes app, which is where I take notes on every book that I've read, and put together a book review series for you. And each week I'm going to bring you a new book that I love and recommend, and hopefully you'll find something in here that you want to pick up. So without further ado, here's this week's book.
This is going to be so much fun. So I want to talk about the book built to serve by Evan Carmichael. If remember, last week we talked about momentum by Evan Carmichael, and this week I want to talk to you about the book built to serve, which he wrote before momentum. This one I loved so much and I didn't think I needed to read this book in full transparency. I read this book because Evan was coming on my podcast, and I wanted to be well read on in the books he's read written. And I thought, based on the cover, me making judgments, that the book was for people who are entry level entrepreneurs, people who had not really gotten started on their journey, or were just getting started, and I'm definitely not in that category.
However, I was so pleasantly this surprised to find this book exceedingly valuable for me so far into my entrepreneurial journey. So what are we talking probably like almost almost eight years now, I think if I'm doing the math right, seven, eight, so I I would say the biggest aha that I had in this book. And I think if you've been following the podcast for a while this spring, you heard me talk about this a lot, that this book uncovered my purpose in life, and that is so wild and sounds so cheesy to say. However, I think there's some magic in this book. There's a bunch of questions that Evan has you answer, and typically I don't do the exercises. I'm one of those like that just kind of blows through. But something made me stop and reflect on what the answers to these questions would be because they seem like such easy questions.
Something like, there are things like, like, what was your like, favorite lessons that your parents taught you and why? Or like, what was your favorite teacher growing up, and why? And there's a, I can't remember all of them, but they so I did the work, and then it revealed to me that my purpose in life is caring. It kind of it kind of helps you boil it down, distill it into one word, and everything makes so much sense now that I know that word. So all the times when I get super annoyed by other people or situations, it's because I have this nagging sense that they don't care enough in whatever my judgment on caring looks like, right? And then what I love to do, more than anything so passionate about is caring for others, making sure others feel.
All cared for and and I am hyper aware that one of the things I crave the most is a sense of people caring for me. And I think that's just common as a mother and as an entrepreneur when you're just like doing for so many other people to feel that way. I don't think I'm alone in that. However, I am hyper aware of that. And then I was working with somebody recently, and they were like, Oh my gosh. Like, I didn't know it was possible to find someone like you who cared about my stuff as much as I care about my stuff. And I'm like, Well, we're working together, so I care, and I'm going to care about the details. It's just who I am.
And so I highly recommend that you pick this book up and take the super short quiz, so that you can uncover your purpose in life, and maybe you already know, and it'll just be reaffirming, or maybe you want the super simple quiz to ask your sister or your husband or your kid and find out what makes them tick at a pretty deep level, in a pretty easy, like non confrontational kind of way. It's, it's awesome. So that's, that was my big aha, and I think is like a as a offshoot of that I had this other Aha, that caring for myself is a way of serving others. Because you know the when you fill your own cup, then you can fill others. You must put on your air mask.
What your How does it go on the airplane? You have to put on on your own air mask before you can put on someone else's. So that is, I just in a total nutshell. That is why I think that this book is super, super valuable. So I would pick it up. I even had I ran these questions past my husband, and we had the best conversation, and just had some really great ahas about who he is and what drives him so for nothing else, get this you can go practice other people. If you're already feeling figure it out yourself. Go. Go try it on. Others, very codependent, right?
As my therapist would say, it was just, yeah, I love this one. So that's why I think you should read, build serve by Evan Carmichael. And pretty sure this one is on Audible, and obviously it's in print, so let's go check it out, and next week, meet me back here, same time, same place. We're gonna talk money mindset again, and specifically my I don't know, I think it's tied for first place. My like top two money books that I refer to people. The first is we talked about it a few weeks ago. Is that secret to the Millionaire Mind? By T Harv Eker, but my next favorite is the psychology of money by Morgan Housel, so good, and I'm gonna give you my take on that when we hang out next week, so I'll see you back here very soon, making an outstanding rest of the day.
